3 Friday 13th film facts to freak you out
Social media platforms were possessed with Friday the 13th virals today. The video, film and web series world has often eluded to the connections between film productions and parallel tragedies occurring in real-life. It’s well-known that the date was full of doom for some crews.
Don’t be scared. There’s just one rule; there are no rules when it comes to superstition. Here’s the list. :
1. Alive
On Friday, October 13, 1972, a Fairchild airplane carrying a rugby team from Montevideo to Chile disappeared over the Andes. Presumed dead, sixteen of the forty five passengers survived through horrendous conditions. They had survived by eating the passengers who had died — a gruesome tale that captured the attention of the world and was immortalised in the film ‘Alive‘. Another plane crash on the same day killed 160 people. An Aeroflot qaairliner flying to Paris via Leningrad crashed near the Sheremetyevo airport, killing all aboard.
2. Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was born on Friday the 13th one hundre and sixteen years ago. Yep, shazam. The film director responsible for “Strangers on a Train” and “Psycho” was born on the one day with evil connotations. We don’t know about you, but we are totally staying home tonight. Spooky.
3. Full House
The fashionable duo Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, who became famous for their roles in TV series Full House, were also born on Friday the 13th of June, 1986. Yep, terrifying.
